The Frogs are Named!
Willimantic has now officially named the four famous frogs. The names of the frogs are Willy, Manny, Windy, and Swifty. Windy is named after Windham. Swifty is an Algonquin name meaning the land of the swift running water. Willy and Manny, surprisingly enough, combine for Willimantic.
Senate Passes Bill That Allows Rubber Frog Races
State Senate President Pro Tem Donald E. Williams, Jr passes a bill that allows Windham to conduct
rubber frog races for charitable fund raising purposes. Sound crazy? Not To Windham residents. Prior to this bill, Windham could not acquire such a permit because the statute only allowed rubber duck races (seriously).
The frog races will benefit the covenant soup kitchen and other non profit organizations. "This is a very positive bill with respect to fund raising," said Paulhus. "It keeps with the history of our town, and it's fun.
It's a unique bill, and local non-profits will surely benefit from it."
