Ct Department of Labor

Welcome to the Connecticut Department of Labor. Daily changes in technology have helped to create a global economy that requires us to look beyond our own borders and find better ways to deliver services to our customers. Our Web site provides us with the opportunity to use increasingly innovative approaches to meet the employment needs of the state’s workforce and employers. The Department of Labor's pledge is to continuously update and improve its services with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of our customers and the economic vitality of our state.

Our offices, located in the 14 One-Stop Centers throughout the state, serve job seekers, students, displaced workers and individuals who are unemployed, as well as those who want to change jobs or continue to move in their careers. At these facilities, assessment, testing, workshops, veterans’ services, regional job fairs and career guidance are available to everyone. Current labor market information enables individuals to plan for the jobs of tomorrow, as well as today. A job bank of available jobs in Connecticut and throughout the nation is literally "at your finger tips" through the use of the Internet. Using a PC, these can be viewed from your home, business, Businesses, and at any of the One-Stop Centers. (See the directory of CT Works Centers for the office nearest you.)

The business community can also turn to the Department of Labor for job-related consulting services, apprenticeship programs, recruiting services through the job bank and the One-Stop Centers, OSHA assistance, regulations, wage and workplace standards, rapid response to company downsizing or closure, shared work programs, and labor market information.  Our business service specialists can provide companies with personalized assistance that can help a business find capable and qualified employees, or further develop the skills of its current workforce.

Working in alliance with the community and our CTWorks partners, the Connecticut Department of Labor is dedicated to developing and maintaining the economic health of our state and its workers. We also remain dedicated to meeting your workforce needs and hope this Web site serves as an important tool in meeting your goals. We thank you for visiting us and invite you to comment on the content of our Web site.

Sincerely,
Patricia H. Mayfield, Commissioner
