The Cupid Tradition

Willimantic celebrates Valentine's Day as "Romantic Willimantic." Each year since 1982, on Valentine's Day, a local civic leader or citizen is crowned as Willimantic's Cupid for his or her contributions to the city.Cupid Entry nominations should be sent to the Rec. Dept. The First Selectman and Wayne Norman of WILI announces the winnerin the town hall court and broadcasts live. All of the years past cupids are present, a special Valentine cake is made and refreshments are served.
