Mansfield Hollow Lake, also known as Naubesatuck Lake, is actually a damn created by the Army Corps of Engineers to store the waters of the Natchaug River. The surface area of the lake is approximately 440 acres, and the maximum depth is 23 feet.

In addition to the Natchaug River, Mansfield Hollow Lake is fed by the Fenton River, the Mount Hope River, and several smaller brooks and streams. The lake drains into the Natchaug River, which then flows generally southward into the Shetucket River. The lake is contained entirely within Mansfield Hollow State Park. The shoreline is predominately forested, with some areas of open land.

A state owned boat launch is located adjacent to Bassett Bridge Road. The launch can be reached by

taking Route 195 to Mansfield Center and proceeding east on Bassett Bridge Road for approximately 1.4 miles. Picnic areas, hiking trails, and toilets are located near the boat launch.

The boat speed limit is 8 mph. Swimming, water skiing and wind surfing are prohibited. The area is

closed at sunset except for fishing.

Fish species in the lake include black crappie, pumpkinseed and bluegill sunfish, largemouth and small

mouth bass, yellow perch, brown bullhead, chain pickerel, white sucker, American eel, golden shiner,

carp, and rainbow, brook and brown trout. Northern pike are also present, having been reintroduced to

the lake in 1992. Fishing is good for largemouth bass and fair for small mouth bass. The lake also

provides good fishing for yellow perch and chain pickerel.
